Here we go. My resolutions for 2009:

1- I will continue to be the best husband, father, and person that I can be.
2- I will "finish" revising Murder Ballads.
3- I will send out query letters to agents.
4- I will continue to work with my co-authors to make Fluid Links into an amazing guidebook.
5- I will get Caitlin a top communication device, and I will begin the process of getting her Make-A-Wish trip.
6- I will write, revise, and submit at least two short stories.
7- I will begin writing the next novel.
8- I will read at least 45 books.

Before I look back on 2008, I first want to thank all of you who were so supportive during Molly's illness and death. We have the world's best friends.

First, I want to review last year's resolutions. 2008 kind of rocked for the Thomas family. [livejournal.com profile] rarelylynne actually manged to achieve all of her's. I did pretty well with mine.

1- I will continue to be the best husband, father, and person that I can be.
Lynne says I did this.

2- I will finish the rough draft of my 2/3 complete novel. I will polish it, send it to readers, and workshop part of it at WisCon.
Result! I managed to do most of this one, though my reader's are still waiting for me to finish my second revision. I also didn't workshop until WindyCon. Still, I'm pretty happy with this accomplishment.

3- I will help plan and run the best possible Aicardi Syndrome Family Conference.
Umm... Next!

4- I will continue to work with my co-authors to make Fluid Links into an amazing guidebook that should be published this year.
That's still in progress. It turns out that the project is much bigger than anticipated. Volume 1 should see print this year.

5- I will do even better work on the next Mad Norwegian Press Sekrit Project.
That project didn't happen. This is why the Mad Norwegian never talks about future books until they're more or less ready for publication.

6- I will cut back on my advocacy so that it is manageable.
Thanks to the politics of Number 3, that certainly happened.

7- I will get Caitlin a top assistive communication device, and I will begin the process of getting her Make-A-Wish trip.
Caitlin got her first device through the school, and we're working on getting the next one. I put off the Make-A-Wish paperwork. There's something very depressing about getting a doctor to write a letter about your child's terminal condition. I'll probably work on this in the next couple of months.

8- I will write, revise, and submit at least three short stories.
That didn't happen. I'm still not sure if I'm all that comfortable writing short stories. I just started one this week, so we'll see what happens.

9- I will begin writing the next novel.
I'm working on some ideas.

10- I will read at least 45 books.
I read about 40 books. I'll take that.
