He Works Hard for the Money....

Yesterday kicked my ass. Not necessarily in a bad way, but I’m really tired today. Yesterday went like this:

1- Brought Caitlin to school.
2- Went to Panera and worked on the novel.
3- Came home and packed Caitlin’s portable feeding pump.
4- Picked Cait up from school, and we went to a lunch meeting for the City of DeKalb Advisory Commission on Disabilities. It went well.
5- We left the restaurant and drove 45 minutes to the Elgin Easter Seals for Caitlin’s occupational therapy appointment. She went on the swing and worked on the computer. Caitlin had fun.
6- Drove back home for dinner.
7- I had an hour and half teleconference with the 9th Biennial Aicardi Syndrome Family Conference Agenda Subcommittee. The schedule is starting to take shape.
8- Bed.

Today should be a little better. I’m writing at home since the weather is finally good enough for the gutter guy to come back to work. This is especially important since I currently have no gutters.

Odyssey Con

The programming for Odyssey Con has been more or less finalized. Odd Con is in Madison, Wisconsin, April 4-6. The Author Guests of Honor are George R.R. Martin and Kage Baker. Some other attending professionals are authors E.E. Knight, Sarah Monette, Pat Rothfuss, Richard Chwedyk, and Senior Tor Editor Jim Frenkel.

This is an awesome convention. [livejournal.com profile] rarelylynne and I went last year, and it was the most intimate and friendly con that we have ever attended. I can’t recommend it enough.

I am on six panels this year. I’m happy with what I got, though it kind of sucks that I’m not on any panels with my friend [livejournal.com profile] eeknight. Man, we really should have pushed for our “Best Breasts of the James Bond Movies” panel. :)

It also seems that my friend [livejournal.com profile] torresroman has volunteered for a bunch of panels (this is his first general SF con). I think that he’s going to have a great time. I just hope that [livejournal.com profile] torresroman won’t be too shy about his opinions on SF. :)

Gary Gygax Passed Away

Gary Gygax, the co-creator of Dungeon & Dragons, passed away.

It's a sad day if you're a gamer. He created a marvelous game that's still going decades later. In just a few weeks, the 4th edition will be released. Gary helped create a game that let players explore their imaginations while promoting social interaction. I've made a lot of friends because of a shared love of D & D.

My thoughts go out to his friends and family.
