Shifting Gears

rarelylynne is home with Caitlin. I'm trying to shift my brain back into writing mode, but it's being difficult. My plan is to work on my children's novel, but I'm stuck. I need a new character, but he or she isn't coming to me.

In other writing news, my new short story is off to Asimov's. I'm pretty happy with it. I guess I'll find out what they think in about 46 days.

In other short story market news, Lone Star Stories closed. I think half of my f-list was published there at some point. It was a nice market that published some really good stuff. The weird part for me was that I received a very nice rejection from Eric Marin the day before the announcement. I hope that my story didn't somehow contribute to his decision to close the market. ;)

By the way, does anybody know if Weird Tales is open to submissions yet? The website still says that it's closed until Memorial Day.
