Super Bowl Sunday
Feb. 3rd, 2008 05:47 pmI feel out if sorts today. This seems to always happen to
rarelylynne and me. We’re fine during the crisis, but we’re all wacky once it’s over. It’s like all of the crap that we keep buried bursts out because nothing in particular is going wrong.
Caitlin seems to be normalizing. She was very tired yesterday, but she stayed healthy. That’s really all I can ask for. My grandmother is also stable.
Yesterday was gaming. It’s a good scene. We played Exalted at our friends’ house while Caitlin had fun with their daughter (who is her best friend). We ate fried foods, faced shark-men, and all was good in the world.
Today the family went out shopping. We had a rare winter day this year where there was no snowfall and modest temperatures. The only sexy purchases were a copy of Dust by Elizabeth Bear and a discounted Hot Fuzz DVD.
The Super Bowl is a melancholy thing for us this year. Not only is it a year since my Bears collapsed, but our standing invite to watch the game with Lynne’s mentor has ended due to the mentor’s retirement and relocation. That is the worst thing about being in the academic world. Too many friends end up relocating as their careers pull them to other places.
