Caitlin still wants a dog
Nov. 7th, 2008 10:31 amCaitlin had a great week. She started it off with a new wardrobe for her birthday. My family pretty much took care of all of her fall/winter fashion needs. Since she's a little girl, this made her very happy. This was also the week that she started going to school for full days on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The experiment worked. There were no problems with her tube feeding, and she enjoyed spending more time with her friends. My heart almost exploded with joy when I picked her up on the first day. There she was, sitting on the floor with all of her kindergarten friends listening to her teacher read a story. Except for her assistant sitting a couple of feet behind her, she looked the same as any of other kids down there.
Of course, I was a wreck all afternoon without her.
Yesterday we went to the NIA Tech Fair in Rockford. This was a free fair of equipment and resources for children with special needs. It looks like we made up our minds about Caitlin's next communication device. It also seems that Caitlin is eligible to get a free dog companion. This made her very excited. The wait will be a couple of years once we put her on the list, and then we will have to go to Ohio for two weeks of training.
Caitlin is off until next Wednesday, and Lynne is off all of next week. I know that Cait will appreciate all of that Mom time. Also, Caitlin is going to the circus on Sunday with my family. Overall, life is pretty good for my daughter.
