Caitlin's Aide Wins!
Jan. 21st, 2009 03:37 pmThis was a week of new equipment for Caitlin. On Monday, she went to her orthotist to get cast for her new AFOs (essentially braces for her ankles and feet). This actually became a small crisis around here. We were supposed to go as a family since somebody needs to keep Caitlin awake at all times to prevent seizures. Right before we left the house, though, her portable feeding pump died. I had to stay home to deal with the home medical supply company, so
rarelylynne ended up having to get help from our friend Sarah. The AFO fitting went well. Replacing the pump, however, has been the usual nightmare. It took until this afternoon for the company to send everything we need in order to use it.
On a happier note, Caitlin's classroom is now equipped with a Smart Board. The beauty of this is that it involved no haggling or pleading by us. Some of Caitlin's therapists had suggested it as a possible tool for her. It seems that somehow by happy coincidence the district ended up with a couple. Caitlin's Aide leapt on one, and now it's in Cait's classroom. Hooray!
