The End of SF Short Fiction- Part 6347

As commented elsewhere, Jim Baen's Universe is closing. This is awful news for the SF professional short story market. This was a quality market that paid its contributors well.

It seems like the pro section on the Ralan website gets smaller and smaller every month. I would not be shocked if the only SFWA-eligible short fiction markets in a decade are anthologies. The print markets continue to suffer, and it seems like only a couple of webzines have figured out a way to make enough money to pay their authors at the professional rate.

Speaking of such pro webzines, Strange Horizons has started their 2009 Fund Drive.
