Random Notes- Now With Less Infection!
Sep. 23rd, 2009 12:11 pm1- I finished the first draft to a short story this morning for a Sekrit Project. I'm fairly pleased with it. I'm going to let it sit for a week before I revise and send it off to my readers.
2- I'm still battling to get Caitlin an Assistive Communication Device. All of her therapists think it's very necessary for her to take that next step. The insurance company, however, doesn't believe that Caitlin's ability to communicate is a medical necessity. I found an organization that might be able to help. This would be a good thing since I could buy 8 MacBooks for the price of a Dynavox 5.
3- Speaking of laptops, my Mac PowerBook G4 is on its last legs. It's seven years old, so I shouldn't be surprised that the screen is dying. I'm going to miss that computer. My wonderful friend David gave it to me 3 years ago. I used it for the bulk of the Fluid Links research, and I wrote something like 200,000 words of fiction on it. I hate entropy.
4- I'm starting the process of ordering Cait's meds for the first time without dealing with a Canadian pharmacy. Not surprisingly, this involves a bunch of forms that need to be faxed. Why do medical companies think that we all have home fax machines?
5- I finally finished reading Time and Relative Dissertations in Space. This is a collection of papers given at a Doctor Who academic conference a few years back. It's a mixed bag. For every good paper, there's one that feels the need to name a different theorist in every paragraph even if it isn't particularly relevant to the thesis of the paper.
