[livejournal.com profile] rarelylynne has Shingles. Shingles are the form the Chicken Pox virus takes when it decides to no longer be dormant due to old age, disease, or stress. Lynne had a very stressful weekend right before she became sick, so that sort of makes sense.

Since her eye remained red and painful after a few days of antibiotics, Lynne's GP sent her to an opthalmologist who discovered the Shingles in her right eye. As it turns out, that was a Shingles blister on her forehead. We're very lucky that we got in to see him right away since this could have caused blindness. Lynne is now on some eye drops and an antiviral med. Unfortunately, one of her meds is making her extremely nauseous. We're waiting for a call from the doctor to figure out what we can do to make that better.

In other news, I replaced the kitchen faucet on Sunday. Its leak got serious, so it became a small emergency. The job would have been easy, but the old faucet was nearly impossible to take out. It took me and friend 3 hours to get it out (we eventually had to use a hacksaw).

Today is Caitlin's big IEP meeting at school. This should be an interesting one.
