Caitlin's Seventh Birthday
Oct. 28th, 2009 11:49 amTo be honest, we weren't sure seven years ago that Caitlin would live to see this day. She wasn't very healthy in her first 18 months. She had uncontrollable seizures, major developmental delays, and was being fed through a tube in her stomach. The only positive at the time was that she managed to dodge an aspiration pneumonia.
There are times I need to stop and remember how far my child has come. I get so busy fighting the next fight for her, I forget how lucky we are.
Caitlin is an amazing little girl. She's cognitively at age, has lots of friends, is starting to eat by mouth, and hasn't had a seizure since February. She's a bright, healthy little lady with a wicked sense of humor. I'm very proud of her.
We are truly blessed.
