We picked up Caitlin's back brace on Thursday. We're calling it her HAPPY BUTTERFLY CORSET. Caitlin doesn't mind wearing it, and it helps her with her trunk control when she's sitting in a chair. Hopefully, her trunk muscles won't weaken too much from using it.

After we picked up her brace, we went to 2 different malls so Lynne could TRY ON ALL THE SHOES. She's on the hunt for the perfect pair of shoes for her Hugo gown. She found one possible pair, but the price was too high.

Caitlin bought me some early Father's Day gifts while we were out including a vintage "Hot Rod" Rowdy Roddy Piper t-shirt, two new shirts for con going, and The Very Best of WCW Nitro DVD set. (DON"T JUDGE ME!)

When we got home, the mail contained our new Pertwee DVDs. YAY PREZZIES!

We were about to leave the house for my cousin's Home from the Navy party when I discovered a leak from the toilet base. After playing phone tag with the plumber and getting a confirmation from him on my diagnosis, I decided to make the repairs myself.

We spent the night at our friends Sarah and David's house. This was GREAT FUN for Caitlin since she thought it was a sleepover with their baby, Iris.

Our friends Stacey and Dan came over to lend a hand the next day. The repair was easy and cheap. Thankfully, I wasn't surprised with any scary complications.

So far, everything seems fixed. I'm glad that we have wonderful friends. :-)

Remember how we were worried about her making new friends at school? Twice this week, Caitlin came home with artwork from a new friend in her 2nd Grade class. Cait's friend decided to draw pictures of Caitlin's Make-A-Wish trip. The first one showed Belle at Cinderella's Castle and the second one showed Harry Potter at Hogwarts. Both were welcoming Caitlin with a wave and a smile. :-)

Last Sunday, we took Caitlin to meet another celebrity. This time it was legendary wrestler Mick Foley. Also known as The Hardcore Legend, Mick wrestled as Cactus Jack, Dude Love, and Mankind. He still occasionally wrestles, but now he's better known as a bestselling author. You might also know him as the Senior Asskicker on The Daily Show.

Storms rocked the area last night. No permanant damage, but we're all a bit jumpy today.

1- The weekend was fine. We spent Easter at mom's apartment. Caitlin chose Wrestlemania as her Easter present from my mom (I have a strange little girl who loves wrestling). Cait giggled every time one of her favorite wrestlers did a big spot like jumping off the top ropes.

2- The Hugo nominations came out. Once again, [livejournal.com profile] shsilver 's fanzine Argentus is nominated for a Best Fanzine Hugo. I had two pieces in it this year. One of my essays was about [livejournal.com profile] yuki_onna 's novel Palimpsest and her phenomenal book tour. I was extremely happy to see the book get nominated for the Best Novel Hugo. It also amuses me that my essay will probably be in the same Hugo packet as the actual source novel.

The Hugo nominations please me. I really feel like they reflect the current state of SF/F.

3- With Caitlin off for the last four days, my productivity disappeared. I spent most of Friday working with her and taking care of her health care administrivia.

4- Caitlin and I took a nice walk to the library yesterday. I'm discovering that her device weighs a lot in its backpack. On the plus side, she used it to choose the audio version of Gaiman's Coraline. Did I mention I have a strange little girl? ;-)

5- We watched the new Doctor Who episode.
Mild Spoilers... )
