Stormy Weather

Storms rocked the area last night. No permanant damage, but we're all a bit jumpy today.
1- The weekend was fine. We spent Easter at mom's apartment. Caitlin chose Wrestlemania as her Easter present from my mom (I have a strange little girl who loves wrestling). Cait giggled every time one of her favorite wrestlers did a big spot like jumping off the top ropes.
2- The Hugo nominations came out. Once again,
shsilver 's fanzine Argentus is nominated for a Best Fanzine Hugo. I had two pieces in it this year. One of my essays was about
yuki_onna 's novel Palimpsest and her phenomenal book tour. I was extremely happy to see the book get nominated for the Best Novel Hugo. It also amuses me that my essay will probably be in the same Hugo packet as the actual source novel.
The Hugo nominations please me. I really feel like they reflect the current state of SF/F.
3- With Caitlin off for the last four days, my productivity disappeared. I spent most of Friday working with her and taking care of her health care administrivia.
4- Caitlin and I took a nice walk to the library yesterday. I'm discovering that her device weighs a lot in its backpack. On the plus side, she used it to choose the audio version of Gaiman's Coraline. Did I mention I have a strange little girl? ;-)
5- We watched the new Doctor Who episode.
I stood up and applauded at the end. It was everything that I could hope for. Matt Smith immediately stepped into the role with the necessary gravitas and humor. The script contained all of the witty banter and twists we've come to expect from Moffat. Karen Gillan is fantastic. The Eleventh Hour is easily one of the best Doctor introductory stories ever.
