Too cool for school

It’s a bittersweet day. Today is Caitlin’s last day of the Early Childhood program. Technically tomorrow is the last day of school, but we’ll be at Children’s Memorial Hospital for doctors’ appointments. Caitlin’s been with the same teacher since she was three. In August, she starts kindergarten. The change is scary, but this is an important milestone in her life.
Five years ago, we had no idea if Caitlin would live this long, let alone thrive. She was seizing for over an hour a day and was almost completely unresponsive due to the injected steroids and multiple opiates in alcohol suspensions. This morning, she was laughing and smiling because she understood that it was the last day of school. I’m very proud of my little girl. We are very blessed as a family.
